For this course – an ethical issue must meet the following criteria:
it considers a question of ACTIONS (not beliefs)
there is no universally accepted answer
there are at least TWO opposing viewpoints
A good way to start an ethical question is “SHOULD…..”
If you cannot start with “should” and list two opposing viewpoints, it is probably not a good topic.
If you need an example, you have two locations to find them:
Any of the topics in the second half of the textbook. All are great examples of a current ethical issue with at least two opposing sides.
Gale in Context – Opposing Viewpoints (note, you will have to log in to PGCC Library to see the page.) This was listed in the “Syllabus, Schedule, Book” section of the course.
___________
Please make sure that your issue meets the criteria listed above. It should be written in this format:
Future Career Industry: Ethical Question in the Industry (2 points)
One side of the opinion
The other side of the opinion
(if there is another, feel free to add that as well)
Personal Ethical Question (2 points)
One side of the opinion
The other side of the opinion
(if there is another, feel free to add that as well)
