For this primary source assignment, we’re going to be looking at the Corps of Discovery (Lewis and Clark’s trek West) and the role that Sacagawea played in all of it. Here is a basic history of this amazing Native American woman:

Your question:
Both Lewis and Clark owned slaves. Keeping that in mind, how do you perceive their treatment of Sacagawea? Did they treat her as more of an equal on their journey (especially since she really, really helped them out!), or did they treat her more like a slave whom someone else (in this case, Charbonneau) owned? In a long, at least 10 sentence paragraph, provide examples from the primary source to back up your argument. Do not forget to cite your sources correctly!!
